Packing and Nominations

So...I suppose that I actually should throw my clothing into my suitcase and make sure I have everything I need for my artwork.  I suppose.  But I'm lazy and uncommitted.  Well...lazy.

I'm actually looking forward to this trip, just not the expense.  This summer is frightening me - I'm so close to the edge.  But so far I'm scrabbling through.  This little trip, however, will cost me $25/day just for parking!  Oy!  That's an extra $175 just for my car.  It makes me sick.  I'll be on the computer tomorrow, but after that I'll be laptopping it for a week.  My laptop has less versatility, so even though I will be posting, I won't be able to do quite as much for my daily computer work as I usually do.

This lovely banner was made by my friend Esteliel.
Maybe it is the mountains around Gondolin?
I have had two stories nominated for the Middle Earth Fanfiction Awards so far.  I'm flabbergasted and honored.  I have no delusions that I will actually win in my categories, but it's such an honor in the first place.  And the thing that makes me really happy is that the person who nominated me only knows me through my stories.  She doesn't share any of my chat boards with me that I'm aware of.  So they really were nominations out of the blue.  Such fun!

I hope you have a wonderful time while you are away. I have been on the net about 80% less then usual while out at my sister's due to the laptop. I cannot even log in to the MEFA's site to nominate as her Internet Explorer is not compatible. That is on my 'to do - urgent!' list when I get back, as I have nominations in my minds from July last year.
Congrats on your own nominations. :)
Oh, thanks. MEFA is still a new experience for me. I did some reviews last year, but that's about it. I'm totally floored that anyone would find my stories worthy of nominating. I think I'm grateful that I don't expect anything further than than, though :-)

Oh, and BTW, I am impressed that the chickens are still alive - LOL. Are you wearing a kerchief and looking like a good farm frau?

What version of IE does your sister have on her computer? I recall your talking about issues with passwords also. Does she have Chrome? That may be a good work-around for you, if you install Chrome or Firefox and work with those instead of IE. Just a thought :-)

Lol, just normal boots and leggings.

I have no idea what version this is; and she does not have Crome. I wanted to download Firefox, but it asks me for *her* password before it downloads, and as she did not give it to me, I can't. I will just make do until next week.

I enjoy nominating and reviewing on the MEFA's, but I only review stories I know and like and authors I support; (because they're writing what I want to read, so supporting them in the MEFA's is just an extension of that.) I just don't have time to read all the nominated stories and review them, and of course some stories I follow cannot be nominated until they are completed, as they have entered once as incomplete works. There are some completed works which I did not believe were eligible last year, and apparently there are, so those will be the first I nominate when I get back. :)

Oh well, at least it's only one more week :-) I'll be thinking of you while I'm off on holiday.

and I'll finally have the time to read your two latest chapters - yippee!!!
Thanks, I'm quite flabbergasted. I can think of many more authors who deserve this far more than I do.

Thanks Ellynn. I can hardly wait to leave. I really need this holiday.

Thanks, Chaotic. I'll throw my clothes into the suitcase tonight and take off early tomorrow am. I am SO looking forward to a few days away from work.

Congratulations on the nominations! And make the most of your trip - if it's expensive, I'm sure it'll be worth it, at least.
Thanks, Clodia. I'm quite amazed that I received any nominations. The trip will be excellent, and I'll get to meet Zhie up close and personal - I'm REALLY looking forward to that!

Congrats on the nominations! I still feel like squeeing everytime I see someone use a banner or icon I have made. *g*

Enjoy your vacation! I hope it will be inspiring, and not *too* stressful.
Thanks, Esteliel. One of the stories was "Wind Song" which takes place in Gondolin, so I thought your lovely mountains would be perfect.

Congratulations! That is so awesome. The noms I got were definitely not strangers. (I love them to pieces anyway!)

I'm really quite amazed that I received any nominations. When I think of the quality authors that get them, like you, Pande, Russa and others, I feel like crawling back under my rocks and hiding. This is a totally new experience for me, so I am determined to be brave and enjoy the ride.
