Tornadoes Again

Well, the tornado warnings and watches have finally expired.  Things were pretty rocky for a while around here this afternoon.  All of my good intentions of playing LOTRO with Aearwen went the way of the Wizard of Oz.  One of these days the weather and our schedules will just HAVE to mesh again...

Do you often have tornadoes in your part of USA? What is your usual climate like?

P.s. Just to be sure that my mail was not caught by some spam - did you get my yesterday's mail, with my story?
I did get your Email with the story and should have time to look it over tonight.

As for tornadoes, yes, we are in the upper reaches of the tornado belt which stretches from north to south across the central US. We usually get a hundred or so tornadoes a year, but most of them have little damage. The one that hit our northern suburbs yesterday afternoon, though, ended up with some serious property damage and one death. That's rare for us here in the Cities.

Thanks, Shire. So far everyone I've talked to today was just fine, although some people were close to the tornado zone.

Your tornadoes are vey scary. We've got 50-70mph winds today - but we are used to them and they are so much less destructive than tornadoes.
Tornadoes are very frightening, although they are beautiful also. But the damage is usually very limited, very localized. You don't find an entire city destroyed like New Orleans was with Hurricane Katrina or San Francisco was with the San Francisco earthquake. \
