Studio Day

It seems like a very long time since I have had a studio day. I have had days off, but those days have been filled with errands of various types and did not have time to create art. I did the basic design for a sistrum on one studio day in January, but the rest of them were spent with things that were less creative. Today will be different.

Yes, my main computer is still dead, but I am hopeful, and in regular touch with my Guru. We'll get this solved and my life will get back on track. It just won't be a super-easy fix.

Dead Computer

Isn't this a great image of a dead computer? I wish I knew
who to credit for this one.

I have had an avalanche of wonderful fanfic to read for a specific Valentine's day challenge and I have been happily reading through the submissions. I enjoyed one of the short stories very much, and talked with the author about illustrating it. She's in favor of it, so I'm going to break out my easel and pencils/pens/paints today and see what I can do. I know that most of my friends illustrate these stories digitally, but I have never worked with digital art, even though I have a great desire to learn, so I'll work in a traditional mode instead. That will be fun, though. I hope that you have a creative day today - spread joy through your actions.
I only know traditional styling, but I am totally self-taught. They didn't teach art for a degree in Archaeology - LOL. I spent 2-1/2 hours today blocking out the pencil work. Tomorrow I'll move the pencil work into pen and then work with pen and a minimum of paint to make it come alive. I'm never 100% happy with my work, but that leaves room for improvement. And when I compare my work with the work of others, it's in the middle. I can only get better with practice, yes?

I should have something to post on this by the end of the weekend if all goes well.

As for my computer - I truly don't like Macs. I am one of the few people in the world who doesn't think like Steve Jobs, and even though I have great admiration for him, Microsoft really does what I need. My Guru and I spent 2 hours with it today and we're floored. We've never seen anything like this and have no idea what caused it. But we can get it back, and he'll finish it up and have it ready for me in a few days. I operate six computers and they all need to be able to exchange files and talk with each other. Thus, we'll stick with Microsoft PCs. My main computer is old and that's a good part of the problem. I'll have my Guru build me a new computer sometime late this year and a lot of my problems will disappear.
