1. Reply to this post with "UNICORNS", and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
Samtyr chose these for me. I'm stumbly on this, but willing to play.
This is my personal Silmarillion, one of two that I have made. This particular one embellished a jewelry box that I made depicting the first sunrise over Middle Earth. I etched the copper and devised a way to suspend a Swarovski crystal from it. It is owned by a fellow Tolkien writer and the purchase price went towards a charity to eliminate colorectal cancer. This is my default icon and I love it.
Gondolin - this city has captured my imagination since I first read about it. Although I write mostly about people, I have several stories in which this city is also a major player. And the best is still to come...
An icon that Oshun allowed me to "borrow", Joie is the drink partaken at year-end celebrations in Jacqueline Carey's marvelous series of books about Terre d'Ange. Haven't read them? I recommend them SO highly!
Of course one cannot have Gondolin without Glorfindel, and even if my personal view of the blond warrior is different than this one, it is still a lovely picture.
My friends in this fandom know that I love slash, and this is a depection of ancient slash in an imagery format. The ancient Greek mytho of Apollo and Hyacinthus is truly lovely.
I don't use secondary user pics often, and when I do it is because I am using my MEFA Nomination pics for each of the six stories that got nominated (thanks to those who were so kind). More often than not, I prefer to use my Silmaril. That will probably shift as I use LJ more and get more accustomed to posting, but I also think there is something nice about looking down a listing of userpics and knowing, from the pic, who has posted.
This was fun, does anyone else want to play?
