Homesick for Mountains

I'm homesick for mountains today. I moved to Minnesota in the late 1970's and it is a beautiful state. We have lots of lakes, wonderful trees, very green colors, mosquitoes that could probably carry off a cow, and many birds that I adore watching. But the land is flat. Long ago it was covered by a very large glacier that squashed out the high relief. So we have river bluffs, but we don't have mountains. But I was raised in Colorado and spent my summers in the middle of the high mountains. I miss them today. So I am sharing mountain pictures from around the world with all of you today. Just pics - share the beauty.

I should start packing...yes?

-Only if you take me, too! I love the mountains because they remind us of how big creation is, and how small we are by comparison.

The picture of the Rocky Mountains reminds me of the Maroon Bells. There was a lovely little river flowing through the valley and a pretty little footbridge crossed over it. Days after we started going together, DH and I had taken the work crew from a Christian retreat center to the Maroon Bells to camp. Well, anyways, there was this bridge and we were on it was so beautiful and so romantic and DH took me in his arms and gave me that very first kiss. OOh, it was wonderful! Until he stopped and about half a dozen of the crew were watching us, applauding. So embarrassing, but fun.
I love Maroon Bells, they were fairly close to Aspen, where I spent most of my summers from age before memory until I was in my late teens. I miss my mountains more than I can ever truly express.

Loved your story - I can so visualize this happening. So cute!

Someday we'll have a chance to meet and exchange stories. But right now, I should probably pack for my Nebraska trip since I leave in two days and haven't really thought about what I should/can wear - LOL. I guess clothing is a low priority item for me :-)))
