Assignments and Friends

Assignments - So DH says to me last night as I was looking carefully through Spectrum 18 (one of my happy things to do - LOL) that he wants assignments. "Assignments?" I query in return. "What do you mean? Do you want prompts for writing, a goal for artwork, a media in which to produce something, a deadline to meet? What kind of assignments?" "Yes" was his response - LOL.

I then go on to tell him that's why I belong to several on-line groups. They provide prompts and challenges that push me to produce writing and artwork, so they keep me busy and focused. I think, after a bit more conversation, that it is indeed this type of 'assignment' that he is looking for. to couch it. What to do. If I don't give him something like that - a direction in which to head, he'll be like a rudderless boat meandering around the lake in circles and accomplishing nothing except getting in my way. I won't stand for figuring something out will be very, very important.

Friends - aren't they the absolute best? I know I've spoken of Seth before, but he's such a fabulous person and I'm so lucky to have him back in my life again. His response to my post from yesterday may have solved some computer issues that I was having without my having to tear my hair out or having any additional white (we'll just call them's so much more civilized) hairs decorate my already pale head. Two on-line friends posted wonderful music videos by A-ha this morning that put me into a wonderful mood for the day, and the friend I do beta reading for had a fast turnaround on the latest chapter and already has her revisions waiting in my in-box for me. How wonderful!

And, finally, today is Saturday. I slept in an extra 20 minutes, getting up at 3:50 instead of my usual 3:30, I'll work an hour less because we close at 5:00 pm instead of 6:00 pm, and I'll treat myself to breakfast (maybe) or oatmeal (maybe) - I haven't made up my mind about which edible item sounds best just now. I'll have Italian for dinner (yippee!) - all in all, Saturdays are good days. Oh! And I can sleep in tomorrow morning, maybe even until 9:00 am! How fabulous! Have a fabulous Saturday on your own little part of the world and treat people with kindness, happiness, and love. Hug a person, a pet, a horse, and pass it on.
Thank you my dear stargazer. I am planning to have a wonderful weekend indeed!

Good luck with the assignments! In the RL, I try to participate in competitions frequently - particularly those with nice rewards. They are of course not the real reason for competing, but when you do feel down and/or lazy it can certainly help! Possible money to look forward to can drag two hours of practice to four if needed. :) Maybe there are some creative competitions in your area?

Also: you actually get up at 3:30 every day?! And I thought I was an early riser with my 6:00-seven-days-a-week. Then again, I usually stay up until 1:00. Still, that sounds both impressive and vaguely horrifying. :P
I like doing competition work, although I don't often win or place, I am very deadline oriented so it pushes me to finish things on time and then go on to the next project taking the knowledge that I learned from the previous project and applying it to the next.

Yes, I'm very much an early bird. I go to sleep at 10pm unless I know I can sleep in the next day, but there have been times when I've pulled 24-36 hour stretches. I like my private and non-interrupted times a lot, it's when I get work done and my thoughts in order.

I SO agree! And your little video of Pip yesterday had me laughing, it was so very cute and funny.

Your DH sounds like a keeper! Your post is so positive and hopeful - gave a great boost to my own day just reading it. Hope the rest of your day is splendiforous.
He can be, then again he can be the ultimate PITA. He's a dwarf, I'm an elf, it's an interesting relationship when you compare our personalities :-)

Possibly. We work in very different methodologies and might end up killing each other as often as successfully completing a project. I did have him beta one of my stories once, it was almost like losing my own voice in his "suggestions". Oy!

I'm glad your husband is interested. I don't like assignments that you have to complete but love Tolkien Weekly and Teitho. I do hope you'll take part in Teitho again.

Yes, friends are great.

He's got to figure something out, he needs to do things when we finally retire and I won't be his nursemaid. I insist that he behave like an adult :-)

Friends are awesome. And I'll play with Teitho when there is another prompt that speaks to me, I'm sure.
