New Archive

For many months I have been posting my work in my personal stories LJ journal, but also at two outside archive websites, Lord of the Rings Fan Fiction and Silmarillion Writers Guild. This past week, LOTRFF was sold to a man who purchased it for the express intent of making money on the website via clickthroughs and general traffic from persons both uploading stories and merely going there to read through stories in the archive. I believe strongly that fanfiction is written with the full intention and expression of non-profit and have pulled all of my stories from that archive.

That said, my work can still be found in several locations besides this one. Many Paths to Tread is a good archive for "G-rated" stories and I have placed my current G-rated stories there. Additionally, Silmarillion Writers Guild has all of my stories that fit within that time frame. But the beautiful and wondrous Esteliel, who writes some of the most amazing BDSM work in Tolkien's universe that it has ever been my pleasure to read, was determined to find a home for authors who needed a friendly location in which to host their work of ALL ratings and pairings. It was my pleasure and priviledge to assist her in a very small way in beta testing the archive and it works beautifully and seamlessly. So I will be moving my stories to Faerie also and I recommend it as a good location to find stories of interest including those of the marvelous Spiced Wine and Pink Siamese. So, there are now three archives which will hold my stories, but as I expand as an author and walk plot pathways that are new for me, only Faerie will hold all of my works.

I invite all authors in the Tolkien Fandom to join us and post your stories to Faeie, a new and brilliant archive that is author friendly. The more of you who post and read, the more we can have a nurturing community of creative peoples.

This looks really nice! I'm glad it allows everything--sites that have restrictions tend to irk me.

I wish Esteliel and all of you the best of luck!
Please come and join us as an author or reader. You will be welcome.

Perhaps I will, though I may only read for a while at first. It's so nice to see respected authors like that all in one place; I've been meaning to read almost every already posted story on that archive, I think.

The do me! of course I can't post on certain archives anyway, with my rating, but neither will I read on them; it's the principle of the thing, which is why Faerie will become my primary archive.
Definitely. Of course, I have yet to write anything that goes above a light PG-13, but it's the principle of the thing, I guess.

Yes. :) I know there were people on LOTRFF who didn't read slash and thought it was evil, but there was a a no-tolerance policy toward flaming and bullying that became kind of entrenched among the members. People got on with reading, writing and reviewing what they wanted without fear. I know some younger writers who posted Legomances and Girl-falls-into-Middle-earth on there because on FFN they were mocked and flamed. They wanted to post somewhere where they didn't have to be afraid of that.

The attitude of the site was good like that, people tended to concentrate on what they enjoyed, and let other people get on with it, anything from G ratings to NC17 and any genre, which is what an archive should be. :)
Absolutely. Esteliel gives the codes for it on her LJ post, or steal the banner and links from mine.

Faerie will become my primary archive too. I am glad you are there, Erulisse! Big hugs!

I believe Faerie will become like LOTRFF was, people posting what they like, reading and reviewing what they want and being accepting and tolerant of others.
I told you and Esteliel that I would go wherever you led, and the place that you led me to was both wondrous and beautiful. I will enjoy placing my work on Faerie and think that if I can move 5-10 stories a day, I'll have everything moved over before I leave for my next conference in a week :-)

You were one of my first friends as an author and reader and I still cherish that friendship as well as your amazing talent. Much of what I am today within Tolkien fanfiction is directly due to you. Thank you doesn't even BEGIN to cover it.

Oh, you are so very kind. Myself, I think you just needed encouraging to do something that was already waiting within you. And my reviewers and readers have kept me posting online, not going back into the lifelong habit of just writing and hiding everything. (Hugs!)

Esteliel -- there are no words to thank her enough for what she has done, but we can all help by posting on Faerie and reviewing and encouraging people, just as we did before.
If you ever think to hide back in your room and only write for your four walls, I'll find the time and money to come across the pond and drag you out of your room, reminding you of the beauty of Eru's world and that all of us deserve to share your amazing vision. :-b

*Snort* . We could probably have a good time wandering around mysterious Wiltshire if you came over -- visit Avebury together :)

I am longing to get back to writing; it's just got to wait until everything is uploaded and sorted on Faerie.

I'm trying to upload 5-10 stories a day. I leave for a conference on Sunday and want everything completely moved over by then. And I still have things to write - two new ones just passed beta and are ready for posting tonight or tomorrow am.

who knows for a fact that we would have a wonderful time wandering around Wiltshire and Avebury and I hope that we get that chance someday in our future.
