Celebrate Beauty

Oh My!!!

A month or so ago drummerwench  and I submitted stories to untold press for their Dragonthology anthology.  They already had six stories slotted and were looking for four additional stories to finish out the book.  I quickly worked up a story in a fairy-tale mode set in a Meso-American landscape and submitted it, thinking that I could start collecting my rejection letters.  But this is what I got from them in my Email today.  Squeeee!!!!  OK, I'm really, really happy.

<i>Thank you so much for your submission to our Dragonthology. We loved your story Dragon Seeks a Wife. It would fit perfectly with the anthology and we would like to offer you a contract for it. Please let us know if it is still available.

Oh, go you! That's terrific, and you know I think the story is great!

Thank you so very much. I would never have known about the opportunity at all without you. I'm so very grateful to you.

A great big, huge congrats yelled from my rooftop to yours!!
Thanks, hun. I'm totally on Cloud Nine. I guess I'll have to wait for my novel to start collecting those rejection notices - LOL. Talk to you tomorrow.

Thank you! I'd be turning cartwheels, but I fear such antics belong in the days of my youth *sigh* - LOL.

Oh thank you. I am such an admirer of your ability to evoke feelings in minimal, loaded words. I keep striving to achieve your level of skill.

Thanks, Ann. I couldn't be happier to be receiving a contract instead of a rejection notice. Happy, happy me!

Thanks so very much! You're another writer that always catches my soul with your words. Your inspiration showed me the road. I'm thrilled by this, though.

How exciting, specially for something you put together so quickly (often the best way, because there's no time to second-guess yourself, lol). I looked on the site (they seem like a nice little group of writers, a good place to start) and see release is due for 2013 - be sure and let us know when you have a firm date.
There are still a few typos that I want taken care of, but not too bad for a quick job. Hopefully they will let me do one more edit before the final.

I will happily let you know when it is released. *hugs*

An anthology is as much an advertisement for the publisher as for the authors so I imagine they'd want to do line edits.
Yes, they confirmed that editing will still occur when they sent me the contract tonight. I wish I wasn't so tired, I'd read through it tonight. But I think tomorrow with a clearer head would probably be wiser :-)

Definitely better with a clear head, yes. In fact, if you know someone with a legal background who can also glance through it, so much the better. It's great that they want you, but you also need to be sure you want them, if that makes sense? *hugs*
Excellent idea. I sent a message out to my cousin who just retired from the faculty at Wake Forest University's Law Department in June. If she's not willing to look it over, she probably knows someone who would.

Thanks so much. You know, it is encouragement and critiques from so many over the last few years that helped me gain confidence and skill and I still have such a long way to go. But, step one has been made, and I keep reminding myself...baby steps... :-) You have been instrumental in my confidence and I thank you so much.

Thank you so much. I think I was floating on the treadmill this morning instead of thudding :-)

Thank you so much, I can't wait. I think it will be an interesting grouping of stories and I'm looking forward to reading it myself. I am totally thrilled. I've published nonfiction before, but have never submitted original fiction for publication before this story.

Thank you so very much. I'm extremely excited :-) (bouncing off the walls...)

Thanks. I just sent back a couple of minor corrections that I want for the contract. When they change those, I'll sign it and I'll be signed for four years with this story. Fun.

(Love the userpic you have)
Thanks. The contract actually is pretty reasonable, I didn't have a lot that I sent back for changes or clarification, so I'll probably be finalized and official sometime next week. Then to edit and hope that it will actually sell some e-copies - enough to justify their putting it into print format. That's what I really would love.

But yes...I am very, very happy!
